Career
In addition to her television work on The Simple Life, Hilton has appeared in several films, including Zoolander and House of Wax. In 2004, she coauthored an autobiography called Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose. She released an album titled Paris in 2006, which reached number six on the Billboard 200 for a week.
Modeling
The svelte blonde Hilton began her modeling career as a child, and at the age of 19, signed with Donald Trump’s modeling agency, T Management. She has appeared in a variety of print campaigns and has promoted everything from Guess and Tommy Hilfiger clothing to champagne in a can.
Acting
Hilton’s most famous acting role was playing herself opposite best friend Nicole Richie on five seasons of the Fox Network and E Channel show The Simple Life. She has guested on a variety of shows, including Las Vegas and Veronica Mars. She costarred in the horror remake of Vincent Price’s House of Wax and won the Teen Choice Award for “Best Scream.”
Music
Hilton founded Heiress Records in 2004 and released her debut album Paris under that label. Although she achieved moderate success with her single "Stars Are Blind", the album overall failed to achieve notable sales.

In Fall 2004, Hilton co-wrote an autobiographical book Confessions of An Heiress: A Tongue-In-Chic Peek Behind the Pose. Hilton allegedly received a 100,000 advance for the book.

Childhood
Paris is the daughter of Richard and Kathy Hilton, and is an heiress to the Hilton hotel fortune. She has a younger sister, Nicky, and two younger brothers, Barron and Conrad.
Hilton was born in New York City. She was raised in Manhattan, Beverly Hills and the Hamptons, attending exclusive schools everywhere she lived. She met her best friend Nicole Richie at school in kindergarten.
Relationships
Hilton has dated a number of celebrities, including Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter. She publicly appeared with bruises shortly after their breakup. She was engaged to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis briefly in late 2005. She also dated another Greek shipping heir, Stavros Niarchos. She has also dated model Jason Shaw, and Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley, who is now married to Canadian songstress Avril Lavigne.
Drug Use
Paris is a well-known marijuana smoker. It is rumored that she used a stuffed teddy bear to transport her ganja on international jaunts. She has been photographed smoking what appear to be joints. On her sex tape with Nick Carter, she proclaims "This is how you roll a joint."
Sex Tapes
A week before the premiere of The Simple Life in 2003, a four-year old sex tape featuring Hilton and then-boyfriend Rick Salomon was leaked over the internet. The film, 1 Night in Paris, was distributed by Salomon, who sued Hilton for defamation when she claimed she was "out of it" during the taping. The suit was settled out of court.
In 2004, another sex tape featuring Hilton was discovered. This tape featured 12 hours of action, including Paris smoking pot, making out with boyfriend Nick Carter and answering the door naked to boyfriend Jason Shaw.
Arrests and Jail Sentence
Like fellow party girl Lindsay Lohan, Paris has had more than her fair share of legal problems involving driving and alcohol. In September 2006, Hilton was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. As a result of this incident, her license was suspended in November 2006. In January 2007 she pleaded no contest to the reckless driving charge and was sentenced to pay fines and serve 36 months probation.
On January 15, 2007, Hilton was caught driving with a suspended license. Just a month later, she was caught driving 70 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. She was also not using her headlights, even though it was after dark. Prosecutors alleged that these incidents, combined with her failure to partake in an alcohol education program, constituted violations of the terms of Hilton’s probation. In May 2007, Hilton was sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating probation. Her sentence was lessened to 23 days. Paris did not take prescribed medication while in jail, which lead to her being sent to the jail’s hospital wing for three days. There were rumors that she was suicidal while in prison and experienced great psychological difficulty. While in prison, Paris claimed to have “found God” and vowed to visit Africa upon her release, a trip that she has continually postponed.
