Nick Hogan, son of Hulk Hogan, was involved in a serious car accident on August 26, 2007. Nick, along with friend John Graziano, were riding in Nick's yellow Toyota Supra in Clearwater, Florida. Nick was driving at a high speed down Court Street and lost control of the car. The car slammed backwards into a palm tree. Nick wasn't badly hurt but Graziano had to be removed from the vehicle by the fire department and rushed to a nearby hospital. While the two were considered to be in serious condition when admitted to the hospital, Nick was released the day after the accident. Graziano was not so lucky and was in a coma following the accident.

During this time, Nick was followed with even more scrutiny by the tabloids. When he went to visit Graziano at the hospital, the paps followed him. Nick and his family used the media to relay prayer messages and to spin the story the best they could, like the one Linda Hogan released after Nick was released from the hospital:

Nick is currently at the hospital with John and his family. His sole concern is for the well-being of his friend. On behalf of my family, we ask that your thoughts and prayers be with John and his loved ones.

Graziano's family had the Hogan family banned from John's hospital room. Soon after, the Graziano family sued Nick Hogan and his family to try to recoup the massive medical bills being racked up from John's continual required care. More information about Nick's need for speed came to light when it hit the news he received a warning by state troopers for speeding over 100mph less than a year earlier.

Graziano, an Iraq war veteran, remains in a semiconscious state and will require care for the rest of his life. He was in an induced coma after the accident because of the massive head trauma he received. Unfortunately, the injuries he received from the combination of the high speed and the fact he wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time of the impact were too severe to recover from completely.
