Material Girl Madonna has always been obsessive, neurotic and on the edge of crazy. Her whole career has been one scandal after another. Just when people thought that the controversy surrounding her hit single “Like a Virgin” couldn’t be topped she made out with a black Jesus in the music video for “Like a Prayer”. She’s penned and starred in her own book entitled “Sex” and is known for her ability to be a chameleon, changing her image whenever it has suited her. And a few years ago she even kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguliera at an MTV awards show.
Her divorce from husband of 8 years Guy Richie goes to prove that she has lost her mind completely and is again proven to be so self-absorbed that she is more than willing to ruin her children's happy family life for a New York Yankees baseball player.

The Marriage
Madge has never really had much luck with the men she wants. All her OCD behavior likely drives them away. That’s what happened with actor Sean Penn who married Madonna in June of 1986 and divorced her 4 years later.
Madonna met her second husband, British director Guy Richie in 1999, at the insistence of close friends Sting and his wife. The pair married December 22, 2000 in the Great Hall of Scotland’s 19th century Skibo Castle. Madonna, 42 at the time, wore an elaborate, white Stella McCartney gown and Ritchie wore a traditional Mackintosh clan kilt. Lourdes, her daughter with personal trainer Carlos Leon, then 4 acted as flower girl.
The Movie
After Madonna hooked up with Guy Richie she decided to try acting again. She wanted to act so much that she made husband Guy Richie direct her in the flop Swept Away, which sucked so bad that neither the critics nor the public wanted to see it. What does Madge have to say about the criticism and her marriage? She was very bummed that no one took to the movie but when asked how it affected her relationship she spews:
The Children
Madonna gave birth to son Rocco Richie on August 11, 2000. The couple lived with their two children in a variety of plush homes located in Los Angeles, New York City, and the family estate in London. It wasn’t until October 2006 that things began to take a bit of turn for Madge and her children. The singer had gone to Malawi to help build an orphanage. She then decided to take a page out of Angelina Jolie’s book and brought home a child. The stats of the then unnamed child were pretty basic, one year old, escaping a life of poverty and a happy father giving up his rights. At least that’s what was supposed to happen. The child was then given the moniker David Banda Mwale Ciccone Ritchie, pretty self explanatory. He had new father Richie’s surname, momma’s maiden name, and the Banda name Mwale, was little David’s old surname.
That's when controversy began surrounding the adoption and whether Madonna had cut corners to bring the child home. The baby’s father was still alive and living in Malawi, and added fuel to the fire by saying he had only planned to have David in the orphanage where Madonna found him for a short time. The child’s mother had died and his father, Yohane Banda felt that he could not give the child the care he currently deserved. He said that he was happy that Madonna was going to be giving David a life that he could not. That is until he recanted saying he felt manipulated, that he had not understood that adoption meant that David was no longer his son, but Madonna’s. Madonna's money made all the problems go away and Madonna’s adoption of little David was finalized on May 28, 2008.
The Rumors
What appeared to be a very solid marriage, despite Guy Richie always looking miserable when photographed with Madonna - survived until the words heard around the universe. Madonna and Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees having were rumored to be having an affair. When the story broke at first it appeared that A-Rod was only another in the long line of people Madonna actively tried to convert to her religion of kabbalah. They were reported to be meeting secretly around town in New York and A-Rod was witnessed leaving Madge’s apartment a few times.
Things only got out of hand when A-Rod announced he was leaving his wife of 13 years Cynthia Rodriguez. Mrs. Rodriguez then proceeded to blab to anyone that would listen that A-Rod told her he had found his soul mate in Madonna and that Madonna had brainwashed A-Rod into leaving her. She claims she found a note written by A-Rod to Madonna professing his love to and for her. It is to be acknowledged that camps for both Madonna and Alex Rodriguez deny that there is an affair taking place and that the pair remains only friends.
The Divorce
Rumors of an imminent collapse of marriage hounded the Richie’s until October. The couple announced their divorce the third week of October 2008 and from that point on, Madonna acted every bit the crazy bitch she is. Madge had taken the children and decided to run back to the states where of course Guy Richie was not. Over the course of a few weeks, secrets were leaked from the marriage and things went from already bad to worse. The first to break was Madonna’s “Marriage Contract” a list describing how often the couple was to have sex, how they should treat disagreements between the two that arise, and how much private time they should spend together. An excerpt from the document on sex, the couple should:
It is even said by insiders that in the middle of an argument, Madonna would tell Guy to go read the document, a document that she had posted in all of the couples homes.
Then there is the list of demands Madonna sent Guy Richie detailing what he must do if he wished to meet with sons Rocco Richie and David Richie after they separated :
- “No newspapers, magazines, TV or DVDs
- Macrobiotic, vegetarian, organic diet
- All water should be Kabbalah - blessed by leaders
- Only wear clothes she has sent and if unavoidable, no man-made fibers
- Hands cleaned with disinfectant
- No spiritual or unethical toys
- No discussion of the separation
- Contact with Madonna at times set by her
- No meeting Ritchie’s friends
- No photography and organize security to avoid it
- Read the boys books written by her at bedtime
When Guy Richie was allowed to finally see his sons in London it was reported to be an emotional event with 8 year old Rocco running up to his father open arms yelling "dad!" In addition to playing wonderkunt with the children, Madonna is also telling friends that the couple shared to pick a side and stick with it. She doesn’t want anyone leaking information to Guy about the state of the custody.
Both sides want the kids and while people seem to be calling Guy Richie a “Material Guy” and claiming all he wants is a piece of Madonna’s pie, he walked away from a 25$ million dollar settlement in the hopes of sharing custody. As it stands now Madonna and daughter Lourdes Leon will stay together, with Guy not receiving visitation with her. It makes sense because she was from a previous marriage and is already a cranky teenager. Guy Richie and Madonna will share custody of David and Rocco. How that will work when they live on opposite sides of the world is anyone’s guess. Madonna will wind up paying about $15,000 a month in child support and unless she chooses to allow Lourdes to see the man who has basically raised her, Lourdes will have to wait until she is 21 to go where she’d like to.
Madonna Coldly Moves On
After the divorce, reports in various UK newspapers and gossip mags stated that Madonna had moved on only days after their "quickie" divorce in UK courts. Madonna apparently was so unfazed by the break up of her 8 year marriage that she completely eradicated anything relating to her ex from her life.
She has taken down any photos of him and changed their joint outgoing voicemail at their home. She has also boxed up and put into storage some of the elaborate and heartfelt gifts he gave her during their relationship.
To go even further, Alex Rodriguez, now becoming more and more widely acknowledged as the reason for the split, was seen in Mexico City on the same weekend as Madonna.
